History

The GOTFire heating system has been developed and manufactured by Bröderna Wimans Mekaniska Verkstad AB (Wiman Brothers Engineering Workshop Ltd). The company was founded in 1962 by Lars Wiman and has been run by his sons Anders and Ola since 1990. For many years the company worked mainly with repairs and blacksmithing in the agricultural sector and, to a certain extent, the manufacture and sale of a sawdust oven we developed.

Biofuel has featured in the company ever since the late 1950s when father Lars developed a sawdust oven which was in production for many years; there are still a number of Lars' ovens in use today. Development of the sawdust oven and the interest in biofuel have been factors in our gaining such wide experience and knowledge of combustion and biofuel today. This experience and knowledge have been of great use in developing the next generation of bioburner which is sold under the GOTFire trademark. In order to be able to offer a reliable heating system, wood chip stores and screw conveyors have also been developed to provide an optimal match with the burner.

In spring 2006 the burner was tested by the ÄFAB bioenergy consultancy in Lidköping, Sweden, to see how efficient it was. Government agencies had begun to introduce requirements for lower emission levels for substances having an environmental impact and biofuel was to be the heating material of the future. The tests showed that the burner was highly efficient and that the level of environmentally harmful substances was extremely low. This meant that our burner became well known in the biofuel world and interest in our products increased significantly. We had planned to sell the burner locally and nationally but since the results of the ÄFAB tests greatly exceeded our expectations, the burner is now also being marketed in Europe and the US.

In 2007 the GOTFire trademark was created to profile our products in the international market. Later in 2007 the GOTFire AB sales company - a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bröderna Wimans Mekaniska Verkstad AB - was also founded.
